WiFi QR Code Generator

Put your Wi-Fi name and password into a QR code. Guests scan it with their phone camera and connect with one tap – no more spelling out long passwords. The code is created in your browser, so the password never leaves your device.

Enter the name and password exactly as they are written, including capital letters. The password is stored only in the QR code.

How to create a WiFi QR code

  1. Enter the network name (SSID) and the password exactly as they are, including capital letters and spaces.
  2. Choose the security type: WPA / WPA2 / WPA3 for almost every router, including WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode; WPA3 only (SAE) if your router admits WPA3 devices only; None for an open network. Tick Hidden network if the name is not broadcast.
  3. Download or print the code and put it where guests can see it: on the fridge, in a guest room, at the reception or on the table.

What is inside a WiFi QR code

The code contains a short text such as WIFI:T:WPA;S:Home Network;P:my password;;. Phones recognize this format and offer to join the network.

FieldMeaningExample
T:Security typeWPA, SAE (WPA3 only), WEP or nopass
S:Network name (SSID)Home Network
P:Passwordmy password
H:Hidden networktrue

Special characters \ ; , : " in the name or password are escaped with a backslash automatically. The camera app of the iPhone (iOS 11 and later) reads these codes, and so do Android phones – through the camera, Google Lens, or the QR code button in the Wi-Fi settings (Android 10 and later).

Frequently asked questions

How do guests connect with the code?

On an iPhone, they open the Camera app, point it at the code and tap the banner to join the network. On Android, they use the Camera app, Google Lens or the QR code button in the Wi-Fi settings.

Is it safe to put my Wi-Fi password in a QR code?

The password is stored in the code as plain text, so treat the code like the password itself. The code is created in your browser – the password is never sent to us or stored anywhere.

Why can a phone not connect after scanning?

Check that the network name and the password match exactly, including capital letters and spaces, and that the security type is right. For a network without a password, choose None.

Does the WiFi QR code expire?

No. It works as long as the network name and password stay the same.
