How to create a contact QR code
- Fill in the details you want to share – at least a name or a company. Empty fields are left out.
- Watch the preview: every field makes the code denser. For small business cards, leave out the address and the note.
- Download the code as SVG for print or PNG for screens, and add it to your card, badge or email signature.
What is saved in the contact
The code contains a vCard 3.0 – the standard contact format that iPhone, Android, Outlook and most address books understand.
| Field | vCard property |
|---|---|
| First and last name | N and FN |
| Company | ORG |
| Job title | TITLE |
| Mobile and work phone | TEL;TYPE=CELL and TEL;TYPE=WORK,VOICE |
EMAIL | |
| Website | URL |
| Street, city, ZIP, region, country | ADR |
| Note | NOTE |
Commas, semicolons and line breaks in your details are escaped as the vCard standard requires, so names such as “Smith, Jr.” arrive intact.
Size tips for business cards
- A card with name, company, mobile number, email and website gives a code of about 50–60 modules per side; with an address it grows to about 60–70.
- Print it at least 2.5 cm (1 in) wide – larger if people scan it from further away.
- Error correction L or M keeps the code compact; use Q or H only if the card gets a logo or rough handling.
- Use a dark color on a light background and keep the quiet zone around the code.
Frequently asked questions
What is a vCard?
vCard (.vcf) is the standard file format for contact details, supported by phones, email programs and address books. The QR code contains such a vCard as text.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The camera app or Google Lens shows the contact and offers to add it to the address book.
Can I update my details later?
No. The details are stored in the code itself – it is a static QR code, which is also why it never expires. If something changes, create a new code.
Are my contact details uploaded?
No. The code is created in your browser; your details are not sent anywhere.
